Colleges looking for long snappers as of the 2008 season?
Hi, I used to be a long snapper on my high school football team, I was praised at the position, coaches would say how good I am and how I could go on to college long snapping. I didn’t listen and took it for granted. Well, I quit football and it was probably the worst decision of my life. Now I found out about all these kids getting full rides to D1 schools and I know I can snap better than them. I’m 20 yrs old now and am currently at a Community College, I plan on visiting snapping camps and making a video to send to college recruits. I can snap between .65 to .75 seconds, I am 6′2” and weigh about 200 lbs. I figure this is the best way to get into a good school, get a great education and continue my passion. So does anyone know any D1 schools looking for a long snapper as of the 2008 season? Also, is this the best way of going along with this, since i have no video of me(while playing) and didn’t play my Varsity year?
I would look at 1-A and 1-AA schools that are local. Presume you will have to try out as a walk-on. Try to market yourself capable of doing something more than LS (O-line, TE, whatever). This will increase your odds of making the squad. Start practicing now so when Spring practice comes around, you’re ready. Good Luck!!
